Notes:
- If the BR-1180 is having CD burning issues, please refer to the following troubleshooting article:
https://www.boss.info/us/support/knowledge_base/201979529/ - Due to the age of the product, the following CD recommendations may be out of date and we don't have updated CD recommendations.
Approximately 90% of the correspondence we received when the BR-1180 was in production regarding failed burns are due to error-prone CD-R media. Because the product insisted on creating pressing plant-ready CD masters, only specific CD-R brands had a satisfactorily low error rate to burn properly.
Look for CD-Rs manufactured at the Taiyo Yuden plant in Japan. If the CD-Rs say "MADE IN JAPAN" anywhere on the packaging, they worked well in the past. Below are a few brands that worked well when the BR-1180 was in production years ago:
Taiyo Yuden, Discmakers, Microboards, Plextor, Apogee, BASF, HHB, and Mitsui Gold.
Avoid common off the shelf, low quality and error prone CDs such as Memorex, TDK, Maxell, Sony, Imation and Verbatum.
